Theres few things from my past life of unhealthy eating that I miss. But after 18 months, I still get that glassy-eyed stare when I hear the word cannoli. Im immediately transported to Corbos Bakery in Little Italy, where Ive been known to polish off those sweet creme-filled, crispy-shelled pastries two at a time.
Hey, if youve ever had one, can you blame me? Theres even a famous scene from The Godfather where, after whacking Paulie in the car, Don Corleones loyal lieutenant says, "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."
My sentiments exactly.
So when I spotted this sexy raw vegan rendition from VeganLisa, aka the Vegan Cookbook Critic, my inner voyeur broke out in a cold sweat. Delicious decadence sans flour, sugar or oil. Bellissimo!
